Wearing of Face Shield Has Been Also Required In Public Places

Philippines - The Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) had released a new regulation that would require everyone to wear face shield on top of the already required face mask at all times when going out of their residences.

The new measure aims to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that has caused numerous deaths and crippled the national economy.

The mandate was announced by the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque who is also the spokesperson of the IATF. The announcement was made via a televised Palace press briefing On Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

It can be recalled that the wearing of face mask has been required (April 2020) on all public places as soon as the pandemic has been known throughout the country. However, since the number of the cases drastically went up since March 2020, the task force had decided to create a new measure in the hope to lessen the spread of COVID-19 disease.

Before the announcement, the wearing of face shield was only required to individuals who are entering closed spaces like malls and other business establishments. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also have required commuters to wear face shield on all public transportation starting August 15, 2020.

Harry Roque clarified further that the face shield should cover your faces from the forehead to the chin and anything shorter than that is not allowed, the spokesperson stressed. The length of the face shield was discussed as many Filipinos are wearing a short shield which basically make it just an eye shield and not as a face shield.

As of Monday, December 14, 2020, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 nationwide reaches to 450,733 which includes 8,757 deaths and 418,723 recoveries.

With this, we, from Anyare.com went on various business establishment today to check for the price of the HengDe-like face shield. After checking, we found out that prices on the sidewalk vendors ranges from 20-30 pesos a piece, mall price is 50 pesos, 7-11 price is also 50 pesos. Luckily, we found a store which sells various Chinese made stuffs and their face shield's price is only 6 pesos.
